'Old' French fleet

Spaceships, like these from Ground Zero games, are really a honey to paint. You can walk from the painting table after 3-4 hours, and have a handfull of painted ships. The fastest method, that is used on all the ships shown here, is to prime the ships black, and then dry-brush them up in the colour you want; greys and 'dark' colors like green or purple works best, while yellow and red are harder to use this way; though the Foundation paints from Games Worksshop will help very well toward that.

The other thing I like is that there are many ways to paint the ships, as these examples show. Some of the ships are basicly grey, with a contrasting colour in a more bold colour in red, green or blue. One of my friend's Russian ships, are colourfull affairs with the engines in stark blue. Even bolder designs er possible.

When I made my own fleet, I decided for one of the new designs, the sleek technological UN fleet. I have never been fully satisfied with the result. I used a grey from Vellejo's Model Range to drybrush, but I feel the result is fussy, and that the edges were not that well defined. While I am a fan of Vellejo, in this case I think the result would have been better with a GW colour. The shade of the blue is also wrong; it should have been more bright and more 'French blue'.

Space station and odd bits

GZG's Space station is quite a model, and look very impressive on the gameboard.

I painted it with a 'day' and a 'night' side, to simulate the light effects in space.

Defence stations. A bit too large, though.
